Tableau Project

I did this project for my Business Analytics class to make a readable visual of the 2012 election between incumbent president Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney. The dashboard leverages geographic mapping to enhance data storytelling, allowing people to explore key insights both at a high level and in specific detail. By utilizing Tableau’s geospatial capabilities, I designed the map to display data regionally, making it intuitive to identify patterns and outliers. The dashboard incorporates interactive elements such as filters, enabling people to customize their view and focus on areas of interest.

The design prioritizes clarity and ease of use, ensuring people can easily understand and explore the data. This project demonstrates my skills in data preparation, Tableau visualization, and effective data storytelling. It highlights my ability to turn raw data into meaningful insights through clean and accessible design.

Student Managed Investment Fund

This project was an incredible opportunity to collaborate with my classmates and deepen my understanding of investments. Working together, we explored the complexities of financial planning, investment strategies, and how to analyze data to make informed decisions. The collaborative nature of the project allowed each team member to bring their unique perspectives and strengths to the table, making the experience not only educational but also engaging and enriching.

One of the most valuable lessons I learned was how to evaluate different investment opportunities and analyze the risks and rewards associated with each. From understanding the principles of asset allocation to considering factors like market trends and economic indicators, I gained a more comprehensive view of what it takes to develop sound investment strategies. Additionally, the project helped me grasp how to align financial goals with ethical considerations, which is an essential aspect of my future career aspirations.

This project also enhanced my ability to work effectively with others. Partnering with classmates encouraged us to exchange ideas, tackle challenges collaboratively, and present our findings in a structured, thoughtful way. It underscored the importance of leveraging diverse perspectives to achieve a shared goal. Overall, this experience was pivotal in expanding my knowledge of investment strategies and sharpening my practical skills for real-world application.

The Effects of the Pandemic on the Arts

During the time of the pandemic, there was a lot of time of uncertainty and change. In this paper that I wrote, I discussed the effects of the pandemic on the art industry and how people would adjust their lifestyles with the closing of movie theatres and various other forms of entertainment. I also discussed the importance of the various entertainment industries and how they allow people to escape from their everyday struggles and allowed them to escape reality so to speak. Mental health is a huge problem in America and numbers of mental health deaths have kept rising in recent years and especially during the time of the coronavirus outbreak as people we’re no longer allowed to do so many of the various activities that we’re used to doing.

During my research of this industry, I learned more about the entertainment industry as a whole and the various ways that they communicate to the audience. Looking back at this project I did a good job of discussing the big picture of the effect on arts but I could’ve explored some aspects in greater depth. One big takeaway I had from doing research on the industry during this time was the problem-solving mindset that you have to adopt when things are taken away or drastically changed. The entertainment industry was essentially thrown on its head during this time, and the people who came out on top and continued making an impact were the most creative and inventive when it came to solutions. This is a reminder for me to not accept no as an answer and to continue asking questions and finding routes to success.
